7 WAYS TO END MOTION SICKNESS Mar 24

This includes everything from air sickness to car sickness to sea sickness. Regardless of whether it’s land, sea, or air, this is unpleasant stuff. It causes sweating, pallor, and nausea, often progressing to vomiting. The sickness is triggered by the effect of any constant pronounced movement on the organ of balance in the inner ear, although psychological stress seems to play a role. To avoid motion sickness, or to reduce the effects of its symptoms, try some of these expert recommendations:

1) Avoid any strong odors and foods that unsettle your stomach.

2) Steer clear of smoke— either active or passive cigarette smoking can trigger Spending motion sickness. Non smokers should be sure to sit in the non-smoking sections of trains, planes or buses.

3) Travel by night— you won’t be able to see the motion as well in darkness as you do in daylight, so you may reduce your chance of getting sick if you travel by night,

4) Avoid alcohol— even if you are only a passenger, too much alcohol can help set off motion sickness symptoms. Consume enough alcohol and you won’t even have to be in motion to experience symptoms similar to motion sickness.

5) Sit up front— when you’re traveling in a car, be sure to sit up front and focus on something in the distance, such as the horizon.

6) Take a pill before you travel— the most popular antihistamine drugs for motion sickness are Dramamine, Benadryl, and Bonine. Taken a few hours in advance, any of these drugs can prevent motion sickness symptoms from occurring. However, these over-the-counter drugs can also cause drowsiness and might not be a wise choice if you plan to drive.

7) Try a natural remedy— in some studies, powdered ginger was found to be more effective than some over-the-counter medications. It is an old remedy for stomach disturbances and doesn’t cause drowsiness.
